Pastor Lacy

In September of 1992, he began Shepherding the People of St. Matthew Baptist Church.  He shares the experience he gained as Youth Pastor at Outreach with our youth and youth ministry leaders at St. Matthew Baptist Church.

As Pastor of St. Matthew, he has initiated dozens of ministries including the Greeters Ministry; the Sr. Saints Ministry; Children’s Church and Nursery; the Kingdom Builders Educational Enhancement Ministry; Faith, Hope and Charity Ministries; Inc. and the Leroy Lacy Jr. Media Ministry.  In addition, he has been instrumental in securing a partnership with the City of Houston to clean up the community surrounding the church.

The motto of St. Matthew is “Where we bring out the best in you!”  Every effort is made to minister to the whole man in an effort to fully equip him/her to be the very best he can be.  There are programs and activities for everyone from the youngest to the oldest member.  The Pastor’s weekly bible study has grown from a few in number to a church filled with spirited members and visitors from the community.  Reverend Lacy’s sermons are described as fiery, thought-provoking, rhetoric that heightens God’s words, actions and commandments.  Pastor Lacy holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the Okidome College of Biblical Study, A Master of Theology degree (2006) and a Master of Divinity degree (2008) from Faith Seminary in Tacoma, Washington, and is currently a candidate for his Doctoral Degree.  He has completed Doctoral course work and is currently writing on his dissertation.

Pastor Lacy’s sermons can be heard via the internet twenty-four hours a day by logging onto or and clicking on the Leroy Lacy Jr. Ministries link.  Because of his dedication, and commitment, Pastor Lacy has received awards certificates and commendations from service organizations and social groups in the community. The Kingdom Builders Academic Program is widely recognized and celebrated in the Galena Park Independent School District.

Pastor Lacy is married to Deborah Lynn Lacy and together, they are parents to five children.

In Pastor Lacy’s own words: “I’m a God-called Preacher and I’ve got to preach.  Woe is me, if I don’t preach.”
